Miss Knowles hit the decks again this past week at the NPR event matching her lippy to her skirt and rocking another sleek hairstyle.....The rumour mill is buzzing that Solange Knolwes got a.....(this is hard for me to say!)......A RELAXER! say it ain't so Miss Knowles! SAY IT AIN'T SO!
ok so seriously if this is true then each to their own, she has stated on many occasions that it is 'just hair' though she has been adopted as one of the poster girls for naturalista's, she is entitled to do as she pleases.
Though I hope this is just a good blow out & press (what else will I post about? haha) but if not I'll pick myself up (from my crumpled heap!) dust myself off and say a fond farewell to Solanges fro. (this is all I can type on this as the tears are obscuring my view of the screen.....)
I really doubt it. she probably just flat ironed it...I'm sitting in my office right now wondering if I'm going to blow dry and flat iron this week or go with an afro. the beauty of natural...the back and forth to straight and kinks. I think the natural sets her aside from the rest of the celeb crowd and I think she likes that. where did you hear this?

ReplyDelete@marie I'm just over reacting lol I got and email from someone asking me "how I feel bout solanges relaxer!" I thought I'd respond a little tongue in cheek!
To each their own. Her choice. Her hair. I saw several different photos of Solange sporting her sleek look and asked myself the same question. I kind of felt the same way when Shala straightened her hair.
ReplyDeleteIf she has, she now joins a long list of those we have admired for having the courage to rock their natural and then made the choice to straighten it: Jill Scott, Goapele, Conya Doss,etc.
Don't they know that each woman who rocks their hair au naturel stands out and is unique in their own way?
Even though I have been au naturel for almost my entire life, I've never felt the need for a woman in the public's eye to validate me, but it sure was refreshing to see a stylish woman being hailed for her own unique beauty and style who stood out from the pact.Touché.

I'm 99.9% sure its just flat ironed and not relaxed. She's one of the faces of Carol's Daughter and It's obvious they chose her because of her natural hair. Solange doesn't seem like the kind of Chick that faffs about with her money LOL!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of when I first saw Jill Scott with her short relaxed hair and I thought to myself "say it ain't so" but either way Jill still looks great and confident and I say the same of Solange (if is relaxed or blown). When you are confident you can rock anything and still look great.

I'm pretty sure you have a similar post to this one somewhere else on your blog. Hmm, this might just, like so many others have mentioned, be a blowout and pressed hair. You probably have nothing to worry about. Black hair is so diverse anyway, so there's a million things - which we're all pretty much aware of - that can be done to it. I truly hope she didn't get a relaxer, because I really like her hair in its natural state - but then again, like you mentioned, everyone for themselves. It's whatever rocks your boat really. :)
